The steps given below will guide you for Linksys wireless extender setup process in a hassle-free way using its browser-based setup page.

Prior to starting the Linksys extender setup process, ensure that have the following:



  • A 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WiFi connection (active and up running).

  • Correct login details (WiFi network name and password).


Step 1:

Plug your Linksys RE6350 (AC1200) WiFi range extender into a power outlet. Wait for a couple of seconds for the light indicator to become orange.

Note: Please plug the Linksys extender into a power source that is halfway between your main router and the blind spot.

Step 2:

Connect to your Linksys WiFi range extender’s default WiFi name i.e. Linksys Extender Setup-XXX using a computer, laptop, or a tablet. Ensure that the device you are using or tablet has an active and strong WiFi signal coming out from your main router.

Step 3:

Type 'http://extender.linksys.com' or the default IP address of your device i.e. '192.168.1.1' (without quotes) in a browser's address bar and hit [ENTER] to launch the Linksys smart WiFi setup wizard.

Step 4:

Once done, hit the Start Setup button. But before please click on the checkbox 'I accept the End User License Agreement' (without quotes).

Step 5:

Select your network name when prompt.

Step 6:

Type your WiFi password as well and click on the 'Next' button after that.

Step 7:

An _Ext suffix will be added to your SSDD automatically. If you wish to personalize the set SSID (network name), Password/passphrase and the security mode of your Linksys range extender's 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, then into the fields provided - enter and select them. Otherwise, please hit the 'Next' button.

Step 8:

The 'Spot Finder' page will display.

As a matter of fact, this feature will determine the signal strength between your Linksys extender and your existing networking/WiFi router. If your Linksys RE6350 (AC1200) WiFi range extender is placed too close or too far from your main router, then please click the 'Find better location' button (without quotes) and simple follow the easy to execute on-screen instructions after that.

Step 9:

Create and after that, confirm your admin name and password. It is also recommended to add a password hint (optional) for easier password recovery. Once done, please hit the 'Save' button.

Step 10:

In order to register your Linksys smart WiFi range extender, please enter a valid Email address.

Step 12:

Now, get connected to your Linksys range extender’s WiFi name (SSID) and as soon as the button labeled 'Next' become 'Blue', please click on it.
