The setup process of extender Linksys (RE6800 AC1750) can easily be done in three (3) ways:
Setup Wizard.
Manually.
Using WiFi Protected Setup (WPS).
In this article, we will show you the steps on how to setup a Linksys range extender using all the three ways.
First, we will discuss the 'Manual' method
Step 1:
Connect a computer, laptop or a mobile device to the Linksys RE6800 AC1750’s SSID (network name), which is Linksys Extender Setup – xxx (default).
Note: XXX is the last 3 characters of your Linksys RE6800 AC1750's MAC Address. As a matter of fact, the MAC (Media Access Control) address of your Linksys device is located on the back panel of your RE6800.
Step 2:
In order to bypass the 'Setup Wizard', you have to click on the 'Manual Setup' link.
Step 3:
Type in the default Password/passphrase/security key.
Step 4:
Select the 'Operation Mode' you acquire for your existing home WiFi network.
Step 5:
Now, you are supposed to configure the manual settings for your 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz both on the 'Wireless' > 'Basic Settings' page.
Important Point: When choosing the 'Manual Setup' option the default mode should be 'Wireless Range Extender' mode. As a matter of fact, when the 'Manual' option has been clicked on, you might see an orange bar across the page. Now, at this point, if you want to keep it in Wireless Range Extender mode, then you can go straight to the 'Site Survey' page to select the upstream connection, else click on 'Change under Operation Mode' - choose the Access Point (AP) mode and follow the on-screen instructions.
Step 6:
Click on 'Advanced Settings' and select your preferred wireless options for the 2 bands.
Step 7:
At last, click 'Save'.
Now, we will discuss the 'Setup Wizard' method
Step 1:
Plug the Linksys RE6800 AC1750 WiFi range extender into a power source. Wait for a few seconds for the LED light to become orange.
Step 2:
Connect to Linksys extender's default SSID that is Linksys extender setup-xxx using a computer or laptop.
Step 3:
Load up a relevant internet browser onto your connected device and enter http://extender.linksys.com in the URL/address bar.

Step 4:
Click on the checkbox 'I accept the End User License Agreement' (without quotes) and hit the 'Start Setup' button.
Step 5:
Personalize your login details (admin password) – add the password hit as well and click on the 'Save' button.
Step 6:
On the next page, you have to select 'As a wireless range extender' option (if you want to configure in extender mode) and hit the next button.
Step 7:
Select your main WiFi network.
Enter your newly created passphrase/password.
Step 8:
Personalize your extended SSID and password and click on the refresh icon after that.
Step 9:
Your Linksys RE6800 AC1750 WiFi range extender will check for the latest firmware and update it automatically.
That is it. Your range extender is successfully configured. You can now access the Linksys extender login page via extender.linksys web address to view and change its settings.
Finally, we will discuss the WPS Method
Step 1:
Plug your Linksys device into a wall socket which is closer to your main WiFi router.
Note:Once the setup process has been completed successfully, you can move your Linksys RE6800 AC1750 WiFi range extender to another location.
Step 2:
Wait for the LED light on your device to become orange.
Step 3:
In the first place, you have to press the WPS button on your main router.
Step 4:
After a few seconds, push the WPS button on your Linksys RE6800 extender. The WPS (WiFi-Protected Setup) button will light up. And after that, the indicator LED on the front panel of your range extender will blink green. As soon as the front indicator becomes solid green, the WPS connection is successful.
Step 5:
If you want to extend your 5 GHz network, then please repeat the Steps 3, 4, and 5.
