  2. Hollow is more of man-made, although it will not expand or contract as solid decking. It should be carefully handled, as it is susceptible to damages before installed.

Regardless of what type is chosen, it is important that final product is properly treated with relevant preservative such as antifungal chemicals. Remember, when they are left untreated or exposed too much to troubling elements, they will not over the time. Even if wood fibers and other types of cellulose are combined with plastic, there are still chances of rotting. Almost all composite decking products will consist at least 40% of wood or even 70%, therefore lack of preservative may cause serious issues over time.

There are three main types of material used for composite decking and they are: Polypropylene based, Polyethylene based and non-wood plastics. Polypropylene and oil-based polyethylene contains some wood in it.

In current status polyethylene based materials are less focused and polypropylene based products are hugely demanded, as they are stronger and less or chances of compression and expansion are less. Whatever be type of material, modern technology is giving hands to enable a manufacturing process to give all composites get a real wood feel and look.
